Intermediate Parts of Motion According to Ramon Llull: Some Remarks About His Medieval Background

چکیده

Following Aristotle, Averroes rejects atomism and the infinite division of geometric lines. Thus, his arguments dealt with continuity contiguity non-atomic parts motion. He vindicates perceptual aspect physical movement that shows itself like in-progress-path between two edge points A B, in which there are middle where qualitative, local, or quantitative changes occur. Ramon Llull took lines’ geometrical as “motion parts.” Points intermediate divisions represent phenomena by lines, surfaces, figures. Also, he appeals to relational logic spot B into Those signified a dynamic vocabulary, called: correlative language. This contribution focuses on conceptual environment Llull’s assumptions, Averroes’ Latin readers explored geometry vocabulary motion parts.

Ramon Llull: From the Ars Magna to Artificial Intelligence

The lay philosopher and theologian Ramon Llull (1232?1316), born in Mallorca, is undoubtedly a prominent figure within European thought. However, the exact position he occupies within the cultural horizons of his period, on the one hand, and the intellectual legacy he bequeaths to the present day, on the other, are issues often immersed in controversy. This situation derives, in part, from the ...

Some Remarks on the Medieval Semantics

The term semantics is rather associated with the contemporary analytical philosophy, mainly with the ideas developed by Gottlob Frege and Alonzo Church. It is not associated with the Middle Ages, especially that this term comes from XIX-century. However, there is a long and rich tradition of contemporary investigation concerning this aspect of the medieval philosophy, which is accompanied with ...

Some Remarks about Induced Qcd

Migdal and Kazakov have suggested that lattice QCD with an adjoint representation scalar in the infinite coupling limit could induce QCD. I find an exact saddlepoint of this theory for infinite N in the case of a quadratic scalar potential. I discuss some aspects of this solution and also show how the continuum D = 1 matrix model with an arbitrary potential can be reproduced through this approa...

Some Remarks about Random Testing

The use of a pseudo-random number generator to produce test cases for software appears not to be widely used, although the method has been reported in the literature for many years [1, 2, 4]. This paper draws on experience with this technique in two areas: compilers and software components. The use of a pseudo-random number generator to produce test cases which are expected to reflect actual us...

Some remarks about Cauchy integrals

A basic theme in the wonderful books and surveys of Stein, Weiss, and Zygmund is that Hilbert transforms, Poisson kernels, heat kernels, and related objects are quite interesting and fundamental. I certainly like this point of view. There is a variety of ways in which things can be interesting or fundamental, of course. In the last several years there have been striking developments connected t...
